Right where we left off... Las Vegas, Thanksgiving time. Immediately after the holiday the remainder of my NCOBS friends that were staying at the airbnb left our Vegas climbing trip for other pursuits. I moved into the house of some family members for about 3 weeks. This gave me an awesome home base for the bulk of this month. Dirtbagging with a bed and a shower, what a revelation! During this time I had a number of awesome engagements to fill the season. - Climbed with friend from NCOBS New Staff Training, Danielle at Red Rock for about a week - Took my AMGA Single Pitch Instructor assessment and passed - Climbed at Red Rock with friend from NCOBS (and Climbing Program Manager), Spencer Please enjoy some photos, as usual, to show more details of the story... This is the only photo I got from my SPI assessment. You can see the folks at the top of the cliff working on some extended top rope anchor set ups. The assessment was a great continuation of learning, and a very positive testing environment. Met some cool people and was able to perform well enough to pass. Ya girl is an AMGA Single Pitch Instructor! Spencer showing me the "wow coil" at the top of Beulah's Book 5.9 trad, 600 ft. About to embark on a Solar Slab journey up another 600 feet. Spencer did this route as a mock-guide which was great fun for me. He's a great about talking through his considerations and showing me neat tricks like this coil. I always learn a lot climbing with Spencer. On Decmber 18th my friend Liz flew into Vegas for a 10 day trip and I moved out of my family's house. Liz and I spent 3 days total climbing in Vegas, and 5 days climbing in Joshua Tree. Liz and I met at NCOBS in 2019, she used to instruct in Florida, but we had bonding experiences such as women's climbing camp and the Service Bus. She is currently in grad school at UCONN studying social work. She was visiting as part of her winter break. We had an awesome 10 day trip with some great climbing, views, and jokes. Not to toot our horn but we are so funny, and have such a good time hanging out. Pure comedy. Pictures: I dropped Liz off at the airport on the 28th and I drove to Bozeman over 2 days, 12 hours total. So now I've landed in Bozeman for the winter, I live in a house with 3 other girls and I am skiing at Bridger Bowl, climbing at the gym, xc skiing around town, touring in the backcountry. Lots to do but also nothing at all... I'm trying to purposely slow down this winter. But surely it will still be overflowing with snowy adventures. Stay tuned. And Happy New Year! And Happy Birthday to my Mom. I am because you are.
