It's been a while since I last did a personal update, and honestly not too much has happened. I arrived at Big Sky on November 5th, and have been working for the resort since then. This year, I am primarily working in the ski demo center. I much prefer this work to the regular rental room. Demo is a rental program that allows you to try a ski before you purchase, or simply to get on higher performance gear with more options of what you ride. In the regular rental room, you get no choice in ski. I have also been skiing quite a bit. As of this writing, I'm on day 7 of an 8 day break. My legs were taking a beating, but after this break I should be good to go for the rest of the season. Right now, I have skied 58 days this year. Last year was only 65 days before the resort closed, so I am definitely on track to beat that. At the very end of January, I took a weekend trip to Utah to visit my friend from home, Jess. The snow was killer that weekend, at Alta we had a 17 inch powder day. The following weekend, Big Sky had a 12 inch powder day. Prior to this, Big Sky had a very thin base, and conditions were honestly really bumming me out. Now, with some fresh snow and fresh legs, the last two months of this ski season should be fantastic. This past month I finally got my touring set up together. I put Atomic (Salomon) Shift bindings on Rossignol Soul 7 skis. I got Scarpa Gea RS boots. Getting off resort and into the backcountry was one of the reasons I came out to Montana, so I am very excited to finally have the equipment I need to get out there! Well, not much going on here. Just skiing and hanging out, as intended. I will be returning to NCOBS for the summer, that start date is still up in the air- of course!
