It's wild for me to think about how my ski season is past it's halfway mark. I arrived in the beginning of December, and I'll leave at the end of March. At this point, I've made many investments and progressed my riding quite a bit. I feel like I'm just scratching the surface of this whole world of skiing and I look forward to lifelong development in this realm. My biggest level up of the season so far has been getting a new snowboard and pair of skis. Since I work in the rental/ demo shop, I was able to demo skis and snowboards for free for weeks until I knew exactly what I wanted to purchase. I hadn't upgraded my snowboard since 8th grade and my skis since 9th. It was way overdue and I'm super happy with my purchases. Another big upgrade for me this season was taking my Avalanche level 1 course. It was a weekend course, some in a classroom but mostly out on the mountain. I learned about what causes avalanches, assessing risk, and using my avy gear in an emergency. Big Sky is a huge resort, Lone Peak (pictured above) is no joke and has some sick terrain. I have in mind many big mountain and backcountry ski goals, so this course was a great step in that direction. I'm working hard to progress my skiing. It's fun developing in this area and this winter is what I've always wanted as a skier and snowboarder. My parents are visiting very soon and I'm so excited to ski with my dad and show him this mountain. All in all, winter is churning along great. Lots of good skiing to be had in the next two months in Big Sky.
